Half Dome
Difficulty: EXTREME
Distance: 18 miles
Half Dome rises 4,800 feet above Yosemite Valley and 8,800 feet above sea level.
Once considered impossible to summit, the Yosemite icon is now a great challenge for many hikers.
This long day of up to 12-15 hours of hiking and 4,800' up and back down is VERY strenuous and is for very fit, efficient and fast hikers.
Yosemite Falls to Yosemite Point
Difficulty: DIFFICULT
Distance: 9.0 miles
with a total elevation gain and loss of 3840'. Many switchbacks, powerful views of Falls and iconic Yosemite. Great, challenging hike in a full hike day. This hike is exposed the entire day and can be very warm. The profile of this hike is straight up and then straight down with no relief in either direction.
Panorama Trail
Difficulty: MODERATE
Distance: 8.7 miles
The Panorama Trail: is 1,420' up, and 4,600' down.
This mostly downhill trail from Glacier Point to Curry Village in Yosemite Valley is a real classic. This trail offers ever-changing views of Yosemite Valley, most of its famous waterfalls including close-up views of both Nevada and Vernal Falls, Little Yosemite Valley and much of Yosemite's high country. Does have one moderate climb out of Illilouete Creek. This hike is stunning at every turn!
Dewey Point
Difficulty: MODERATE
Distance: 9.5 miles
Easy hiking but overall moderate because of the length.
A real Yosemite classic and a bit more off the beaten track.
Bring a camera! This trip starts high at 7200' but eventually drops to the famous "Wawona View" 3,000' lower with ups and downs in between.
Many people's personal favorite hike off the Glacier Point Road as it has great views of the Valley and high country and "usually" one of the best wildflower displays in the Park.
Yosemite Valley Tour
Difficulty: EASY
Distance: Up to 5 miles
Total walking to include Mirror Lake, (relatively flat), Bridal Veil Falls, walk to base of falls (paved). Yosemite Falls (walk to Base). Views in El Cap Meadow. Naturalist emphasized day. Could also drive to Giant Sequoia grove for leisurely 2 mile hike as well. Would have to coordinate bus driver. 1 group of 12. 10am
